Hope. Change. Biden?

Posted: August 24, 2008 in Uncategorized

Today Barack Obama inexplicably chose Joe Biden, a 65-year old, 36-year veteran of the Senate as his running mate.  Now, I worked on Capitol Hill for two years in the mid-’90s and I remember Senator Biden well and let me just say that Beliefnet uber-blogger Hugh Hewitt’s description of Biden is pretty accurate.

Hewitt wrote “Obama has added to his unsteady candidacy an epic amount of Beltway cluelessness and arrogance unsupported by anything except frequent flier miles and Delaware’s love for a chuckle-headed fellow with a big smile.”

Need I remind you that Biden is the one who dropped out of the 1988 presidential race after it was revealed that he was plagiarizing his speeches and lying about his campaign resume (e.g., he claimed to have graduated in the top 1/3 of his class from Syracuse when, in fact, he graduated near the bottom).

So much for hope and change!
