The Offices of Christ–Christ as King

Posted: December 14, 2008 in Uncategorized

Jesus is not a sweet little dude who sips herbal tea and listens to John Tesch. He is in fact the king of the universe.

Scripture asserts that after the resurrection God seated Jesus “…at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.” (Eph. 1:20-22).

Most people obviously do not recognize Jesus as King but the Bible makes it clear that this will change one day when he returns and “every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil. 2:10-11).

Followers of Christ do this willingly and with joy but all others will apparently be forced to do so.

Jesus’ judgment will occur after all have bowed and even a cursory study of that day (e.g., see Matt. 25:31-46) should convince the worst pagan or the nicest effeminate Christian that Jesus is anything but a sweet little dude.

Say it with me, Jesus is King.
