Salvation: Justification Part 2

Posted: January 14, 2009 in Uncategorized

Wayne Grudem writes “the use of the word justify in the Bible indicates that justification is a legal declaration by God.”  The Greek word translated “justify” in English translations is a “forensic” term meaning “having to do with legal proceedings.”  In fact, an important component to “justification” is the pronouncement by God that the individual is “not guilty” but how is that possible? We are all guilty.  We all have sinned.  Moreover, even if we are declared “not guilty,” so what? Where does that get us? Back to neutral. We haven’t earned the moral standing to enter the Kingdom of God, so how can God do this and still be truly just? How can anyone be saved?

More later.
