Frequently Asked Questions about Revolution Part 6

Posted: June 17, 2010 in Uncategorized

So, we need to plant churches to reach the most people we can for Jesus and Revolution was planted in downtown Portsmouth to reach those that no other church is prepared to reach.  How will Revolution do this? The steps we live by are: GO-SEE-FEEL-DO or GO into the culture, SEE the idols (or false gods) of the culture, FEEL for those who have falsely hung their hopes on these idols and DO or love them and introduce them to the one true God of the universe.

Today, I want to talk about the FEEL step.

If you are a follower of Jesus, ask yourself if you truly feel for those around you who looking to a false god for meaning and hope when you know that it won’t do either because something created cannot bear the weight of the divine.  Do you really feel for them? We may all feel for those who are sick or transparently broken-hearted but what about your neighbors, friends and co-workers who appear fine but whose dreams are god-less and, therefore, shallow and, ultimately, disappointing? Do you love them? Do you see the danger they are in?

If you hear about someone who walks by someone drowning or trapped in an overturned car or whatever and does nothing then you consider that person a coward or worse but we all (myself included) walk by people in grave spiritual danger every day and do nothing.

We need to feel for those around us who don’t know Jesus and the only way to do that is through a lot of prayer.  We need to pray for broken hearts.  We need to have hearts like Christ who wept over the very city that was about to condemn him to torture and death.  We need to feel for those who don’t know the beauty and depth of a relationship with the one true God.

Do you feel for ALL of those around you? If not then it is time to devote a great deal of time in prayer for them, for you and for your God.

Tomorrow we talk about what happens once your heart has been broken…what do you do to truly introduce them to Jesus?

Until then, grace and peace.
